Delmy’s Story

I warm welcome to you!

vialpando2internetsmall 200x300 Delmys StoryI am Delmy Vialpando. I have lived in the international arena for over 25 years. As a wife I have experienced international relocation with two young daughters and as an empty-nest spouse.

Each move provided me with an opportunity for personal growth. I also learned that a positive outlook was my best resource to deal with the feelings of isolation and the set-backs that each transfer created in the midst of a foreign cultural environment

Throughout these periods I worked as a Montessori teacher, established my own innovative Montessori home-pre-school and served as a Housing Counselor to young families.

Ever since childhood I have been attracted to living and learning from different cultures. I used to listened with fascination to my grand mother’s stories about her own family background and moves overseas going back to her great-grandmother.  The strength, determination and courage of this line of single mothers, over a hundred years ago, has been a source of power while raising my two daughters mostly by myself due to the demands of my husband’s job travels.

After my daughters moved on pursuing their academics and careers, I began fulfilling my dream of exploring the world.   I consider myself  blessed by having visited many countries including Japan and lived abroad, especially Europe, but there is still so much more in the horizon as I step into the twilight of my life.

I believe in the importance of learning communication skills in the language of the country of residence, and if traveling, at least the courtesy phrases especially when and how they are used.

I remember my first day in Belgium . . . so excited to practice the French I had been learning via CDs . . . proudly ordered myself ONE of the famous Belgian beers and I was served FIVE beers . . . that was a lesson on pronunciation icon smile Delmys Story ))

Bio5 150x150 Delmys StoryBesides English, I am fluent in Spanish, basic French and a small remembrance of the German I used to speak while living there 20 years ago.  Such attitude opened the door to valuable friendships kept until today, some of them non-English speakers.

Through years of supporting and interacting with stay-home women stationed overseas, I became aware of the need for a place outside the job-related “programs” where personal, confidential, emotional, non-critical acceptance is available.

My mission and passion is to provide a space for connection where stay home women living overseas can be empowered to use such particular time in their lives to invest in  t-h-e-i-r personal growth and experience a fulfilled life while living abroad.

I’d love to get to know you better
